A New Day Ahead

Life is short. I know this to be true. And yet how easy it is to spend each day as though the next day is promised to us. Reality is that tomorrow is not promised to the hearts of men. However, when we do have the incredible gift of receiving tomorrow it should be yielded to as a blessing from the Lord. His mercies are new every morning.

Spring is my favorite time of the year. It brings ... Birds. Longer days. Baseball. Sunshine. Dogwoods in full bloom. Tiny buds of life on the trees. Walks around the block. Playgrounds with my kids. Grilling. Coffee and the Word of God on my patio. Golf. Thuderstorms. Running. Green grass. The Celebration of Christ's Resurrection! Life!

Tomorrow I have the opportunity to meet a beautiful and godly woman. I am praying for wisdom. A new day lies ahead of me. Lord, may your will be done in all that I say, think and do.

By The Blood of The Eternal Covenant

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will. - Hebrews 13:20-21 (ESV)

We are in that time of the year where we (followers of Christ) celebrate the blood of the eternal covenant. When the bible speaks of blood it speaks of death. In the verse I posted today the author of Hebrews speaks of the blood of the eternal covenant; in other words, the death and crucifiction of Jesus Christ. As a Christ-follower, and one who is saved by this blood, I can walk in obedience to His will because of His great bleeding for me on the cross. I am reconciled to God through this blood. What a glorious rapture to know that the blood of the eternal covenant empowers me to do His will. Great Shepherd, thank you for your sacrifice of love. As a sheep I am prone to wander. Help me to yield myself to you in all things. Amen!

Because of His Mercy

Ben and I embarked upon a life-changing discipline in this new year - 2005. Each morning we open the holy scriptures and read God's letter to us. What a precious time this has been. Ben bought a new Bible this weekend at the Acquire the Fire Conference he attended. It has been extremely encouraging to me to find him each night reading his Bible right before I tuck him in each night. Even more so, that he desires to rise early each morning (6 AM) so that we can open the scriptures and read once again God's message to us. What more can a Dad ask for!

Click To Hear Greg Read Titus 3:4-8

4 But then God our Savior showed us his kindness and love. 5 He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us a new life through the Holy Spirit.[a] 6 He generously poured out the Spirit upon us because of what Jesus Christ our Savior did. 7 He declared us not guilty because of his great kindness. And now we know that we will inherit eternal life. 8 These things I have told you are all true. I want you to insist on them so that everyone who trusts in God will be careful to do good deeds all the time. These things are good and beneficial for everyone. Titus 3:4-8 (NLT)

God saved me. This I know is true. I am grateful for this salvation. I did NOTHING to heap His kindness and love upon my heart and mind. Why has salvation be given to me? Because of his mercy! Period. His mercy has ushered me into his everlasting arms and presence. I have been declared not guility. Think on that one for a few minutes. My calling then, in light of his mercy and his kindness and his love, is to do good deeds. How often? All the time. Lord Jesus, help me to put into practice the same sort of love you have mercifully demonstrated to this humbled man. Thank you for your mercy! Amen!

Twelve Years Ago

Turning Twelve ...

Today my son turned 12. Where has the time gone? He is definitely growing up. He is slowly losing his boy-ish looks and transitioning into a man. I fixed his favorite dinner tonight -- Terriyaki Chicken breasts on the grill (it was 26 degrees outside), Chicken rice, steamed broccoli, and garlic toast. -- oh, and you can't forget the Vanilla Coke.

He has been such a sweet kid. It is my prayer that the next few years leading up to his own independent flight into manhood will be marked by the grace of God and his desire to do God's will boldly.
